It was a pleasure having Meghna on our Hearth 2 Heart podcast where she shared her expertise on ethical and trauma-informed storytelling. Her compassionate and thoughtful approach, coupled with her willingness to be vulnerable in sharing her own stories, creates a space that encourages others to speak up and share their experiences. Meghna's approach deeply resonates with all who have the privilege of working with her.

Dr. Bhat has been an integral team member at Capital Storytelling since 2022. She has led numerous storytelling classes and workshops for us. She leads spaces with a calm and compassionate energy-- one that invites people to be vulnerable while finding their own strengths and identity through narrative. She is also the coordinator and visionary for our Immigrant Storytelling Program-- a program that amplifies the stories of first and second generation immigrants in Sacramento. She has been an incredible leader in that space-- helping to run a program that has served over 300 people in the past 2 years.

Dr. Meghna Bhat is an incredible and thoughtful storyteller, activist, and all around human being! As a consultant and partner, I witnessed firsthand how much care and energy she put into her Gulabi Stories project. I've also had the pleasure of attending multiple of her workshops! She approaches storytelling in a culturally-specific & trauma-informed manner, and anyone would be lucky to work with her—whether as a storyteller, consultant, partner, or host.

Dr. Meghna Bhat was a guest on our podcast, The Accidental Educator, and she developed an in-person workshop on storytelling for our conference on community-based responses to elder abuse. Dr. Bhat brings so much insight, warmth, and extensive expertise. She is reliable, communicative, and has a way of bringing joy to otherwise very challenging work.

I had the privilege of working with Meghna during the Gulabi Stories project in 2022 and what impressed me most was how she created an incredibly supportive and empathetic environment for all participants. She led us through the process of unpacking difficult personal narratives with so much care and understanding, checking in at every step to ensure we felt safe and validated. Her thoughtful questions not only helped us reflect on our own experiences but also inspired us to see the power and impact of sharing our stories. I highly recommend Meghna—whether as a workshop facilitator, keynote speaker, or story coach—because of her remarkable ability to foster vulnerability, trust, and meaningful growth in her sessions. One particular highlight was the reflective exercise she used to guide us through our storytelling, which made me feel included and heard while learning a new way to give voice to our stories.

Dr. Bhat facilitated a warm, vulnerable, and culturally relevant writing space that inspired me to identify, write, capture, and share a moment of community in my life - which aligns with my desire to share more stories of joy outside of my identity of survivorship.

Dr. Bhat was great to work with during the year long NEA grant where she created a compelling and elevating community project. She showed up fully to do this important work and was 100% committed to creating the best project possible. She definitely went above and beyond with the work, and could be relied upon to do the project. It was a pleasure to work with her. I recommend working with Dr. Bhat when you have the opportunity to do so. You'll be happy with the experience and your results.

I participated in two different story-writing workshops with Meghna and throughly enjoyed my time with her. She is a very patient instructor/facilitator making sure everyone follows along what she is saying. She is an effortless facilitator who comes prepared. She doesn't waste participants' time and keeps the conversations/work moving along. She is highly inclusive and makes sure the space you are in is a safe and brave space. She creates conditions of belonging for everyone. She is very empathetic and made sure I felt comfortable sharing my story.

I really enjoyed learning how to structure my story from her. She gives you guidances and nudges you along but is not overbearing. Her feedback is very constructive and gentle which helps you further refine what you are writing. I highly recommend Meghna. She will be an asset to your team!

Dr. Bhat’s storytelling workshop at the Futures without Violence's Elder Abuse Conference, Use of Storytelling as a Restorative Practice Tool to Unpack Intergenerational Trauma, and Capture Wisdom and Healing, was a transformative experience. What stood out most was her ability to create a space that felt deeply safe, inclusive, and empowering for everyone in the room. Through her thoughtful facilitation and gentle guidance, Dr. Bhat helped us navigate the complexities of intergenerational trauma with compassion and clarity. The exercises she led, particularly the guided narrative sharing, fostered connection and healing in a way that was both profound and accessible. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Bhat for her expertise in workshop facilitation, story coaching, and creating environments for healing, understanding, and community building.

Meghna Bhat and I met five years ago as students in a Capital Storytelling class. We have continued to work together as storytellers sharing stories from the stage and as ambassadors and mentors teaching classes and guiding the storytellers we teach and train. Meghna is a wonderful combination of creativity and organization, of keeping things on track while allowing originality and personal style to blend into whatever she does. Her presentations are professional, but there are bits of humor, warmth, and personal experience thrown in. My favorite thing about working with her is that she LISTENS. When I have an idea that may sound ridiculous at first, Meghna hears me out, asks the right questions, gives me valuable feedback and basic assistance, and then somehow convinces me that I did all that by myself. She is a dream to work with!
